In the 1920s and 1930s Soseki Komori made wonderful woodblock print designs of birds and flowers (kacho-e). When the famous shin hanga collection of collector and art dealer Robert A. Muller came into the bright spotlight of art collectors, the public suddenly became more aware of Soseki Komori.

Kacho-e by Soseki Komori

The woodblock designs by Soseki Komori can keep up with prints made by the great kacho-e (images of birds and flowers) artist Ohara Koson. But Soseki Komori has one disadvantage. No information is available about the artist, not even the year of his birth and death. Therefore woodblock prints by Soseki Komori are cheaper than those designed by Koson.

The woodblock prints were published by the Tokyo publishers Kawaguchi and Sakai.
