The name with the unfamiliar sound is of Korean origin and as normal and common in Korea as "Smith" or "Miller" in England. Jun Kwak Duck is not only a serious artist. He is also very well known and celebrated inside and outside of Japan, where he was born and where he lives. Born in KyotoJun Kwak DUCK (Duck is the family name) was born in Kyoto in 1937. He graduated from Kyoto Hiyoshigaoka Art High School, where he had studied Japanese painting. After 1980 he began to work on an extended series of works titled "meaningless", which has become famous since then. TechniqueThe artist works in silkscreen and in etching technique. Exhibitions and AwardsFrom 1969 to 1987 Duck participated in the International Print Biennial Exhibitions of Brazil, Norway, England and Tokyo. He had many one-man shows in Japan, Korea and the United States of America.
